This half day tour takes place for the most part in the southern, colonial portion of Quito, an area of narrow picturesque streets and photogenic houses and includes a visit to the most interesting religious buildings constructed in the XVI, XVII, XVIII centuries such as: San Agustin, the Cathedral, La Companía, San Francisco, La Merced and San Diego. In addition, we will visit the House of culture, which has a well-displayed archaeology collection of Paleo-Indian and Pre-colombian artefacts, as well as colonial art and other collections. The climax of this historical and cultural odyssey will be a drive to Panecillo hill, which high above the city, is a spectacular vantage point for a dazzling view of Quito.

Have an early breakfast and we will pick you from your hotel to take you to the Colonial city (please see our Quito Colonial city tour). After filling yourself with the marvel and wonder of the Old City you will have about an hour´s drive on the Panamerican Highway to digest all that you have seen before the next once-in-a-lifetime event begins. Our drive brings us to the exact middle of the world where an elaborate monument has been built. So straddle each half of the world by stepping across a line that shows the division of the equator (and take priceless photos, of course)and afterwards we will visit the attractive, comprehensive display, located in the tower monument, of all the cultures native to Ecuador and really get an idea of the diversity of this tiny country. Lunch will be served at the Equinoccio restaurant known for its Ecuadorian cuisine.
